Fellowships in theoretical physics at the Department of Physics and Astronomy, Uppsala University, starting 2023/09/01 or later as agreed upon.

We are advertising one or more fellowships in theoretical physics at the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Uppsala University. The fellowships have a duration of 1-3 years, subject to availability of funds and satisfactory performance. Applicants are expected to conduct research in theoretical physics related to quantum field theory and string theory. Research areas of particular interest include (but are not restricted to): supersymmetry, gauge/gravity duality, geometric methods for quantum field theories, generalized symmetries, integrability, conformal bootstrap, scattering amplitudes, gravitational waves, cosmology, and string phenomenology.

Prerequisites: a PhD degree in theoretical physics or equivalent is required by the starting date of the fellowship.

The application should contain a cover letter mentioning the applicant’s research area, a CV, a brief research statement of no more than 3 pages (longer statements will not be considered), and a publication list. The applicant should arrange to have two or more letters of recommendation made available on AcademicJobsOnline. Contact information for the letter writers should be included in the application cover letter.
