Position Description

Job Description: The He Lab in the College of Health at Lehigh University invites highly motivated candidates to apply for a postdoctoral research scholar position. The lab is seeking a wet lab scientist to lead method development (using liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry) and their applications in environmental health studies. The lab conducts not only human studies to explore the biological mechanisms linking environmental risk factors exposures (e.g., air pollution and extreme heat), but also interventional studies to find effective solutions to mitigate the health impacts of various environmental exposures. The scholar will work closely with Dr. Linchen He and other researchers at Lehigh University and external institutions, including Duke University and Johns Hopkins University.

Merit and Qualification: While we invite all interested candidates to apply, ideal candidates will have some or all of the following skills: • Expertise in using liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) • Expertise in metabolomics and omics data analysis • Expertise in biomarkers and analytical methods • Understanding environmental epidemiology approaches • Experience in statistical analysis using R, Python, or other tools

The position requires excellent written and oral communication skills and a willingness to work as part of a collaborative team. The scholars will be responsible for moving forward several projects within the lab, mentoring graduate and/or undergraduate students, and maintaining active collaborations with other labs and universities.

Required Qualifications: Applicants should possess a Ph.D. in Environmental Health and Sciences, Molecular Biology, Analytical Chemistry, or other relevant disciplines with relevant previous work and interest in environmental health and epidemiology.

Position: The postdoctoral research scholar will work with Dr. Linchen He at Lehigh University. The annual salary will follow the NIH standard salary for FY 2023 plus full benefits.

Start Date: Application review will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. The anticipated start date is February 1, 2023, but it can be negotiated. The research scholar will be initially appointed for 12 months with a possibility of renewal. Renewal will be contingent upon the availability of funding and the achievement of the stated objectives.

How to apply: Applicants should send a cover letter, curriculum vitae, and contact information for at least three references. For additional information, please email Dr. Linchen He at lih322@lehigh.edu

The review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
