Position Description:

We seek a highly-motivated individual to pursue neural engineering research in a supportive and collaborative environment. Our goal is to advance bioelectronic medicines: electrical stimulation, block, and recording of peripheral autonomic nerves for disease treatment and restoration of function. The successful applicant will advance and make use of our ASCENT (Automated Simulations to Characterize Electrical Nerve Thresholds) pipeline for biophysical simulations of neural responses to electrical signals. They will use ASCENT to address research questions, and they will develop new modeling and design methods as required by the project. The objectives are mechanistic understanding and design of neuromodulation therapies to improve patient outcomes. This is a part-time, hourly position with and provides exceptional opportunities for interdisciplinary research and career development. The appointment will be for one year, with a June 1, 2023 start date.

Requirements: 
• Hold a PhD degree in engineering, physics, neuroscience, or computer science 
• Be familiar with neural biophysics and the fundamental principles of neural engineering 
• Be an expert programmer, including in Python, with good coding habits; experience in Matlab, NEURON, COMSOL, and / or git would be assets 
• Have excellent informal and formal written and oral communication skills 
• Be capable of balancing independent research progress with collaboration and team work, as appropriate
