Postdoctoral Associate – Biostatistics

 

Duke University is seeking a successful postdoctoral associate in the Department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics (www.biostat.duke.edu). Duke University is regularly ranked among the top research institutions in the US and worldwide. It is located in Durham, North Carolina.

Position Description: This position is to develop innovative statistical methods to detect treatment effect heterogeneity by using multiple data sources from randomized clinical trials to electronic health record data in the application of mental health (schizophrenia and major depressive disorder) under the supervision of Dr. Hwanhee Hong at Duke University. This project will use methods for Bayesian network meta-analysis, adaptive borrowing across multiple datasets, and causal inference. The primary statistical framework that will be considered is Bayesian but not limited to. The selected candidate will have opportunity to learn new statistical methods, develop methodologies, lead to both collaborative and methodological projects, and write/co-author manuscripts for high-quality peer-reviewed journals. In addition, this position will have many opportunities to collaborate with other interesting relevant projects within the Department, Duke Clinical Research Institute, and Duke Medicine.

 

The initial term for the appointment is 2 years with the possibility of extensions. Consideration of applications will begin immediately, and will continue until the position is filled. Interviews will be conducted until the position is filled.

Qualifications:  Candidates must have the following:       

  • A doctoral degree in biostatistics, statistics, or related fields with solid training in statistical methods and biomedical research.
  • Experience with Bayesian hierarchical modeling and clinical trial data analysis
  • Basic understanding about causal inference
  • Demonstrated evidence of excellent programming, collaboration, and communication skills are required.
