The University of Washington Schools of Medicine and Public Health are seeking a Chair of the Department of Global Health that bridges these two schools. The leader of the Department of Global Health is expected to support the mission of improving health for all through research, education, training, and service; to understand and address the causes of disease and health inequities at multiple levels; and to collaborate with partners to develop and sustain locally led, quality health systems, programs, and policies. Leading a group of dedicated faculty, staff and students, the Chair will model the principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion, anti-racism, and the de-colonialization of global health through their research, teaching, mentoring, practice, and service. The Chair will be expected to support the continued evolution of the department, and embrace the core values of excellence, social justice and equity, diversity, collaboration, interdisciplinary approaches, global partnerships, and integrity.

Demonstrated track record of leadership in building collaborative and equitable global health research and/or practice partnerships with Global South institutions and agencies.

Demonstrated success in career development and mentorship of faculty, staff, and/or students.

Advocacy for community engagement to improve global health, strengthen research collaborations.

Demonstrated effective and innovative strategies for student learning and engagement for diverse students in the department.

Ability to work effectively with administration/leadership to obtain necessary resources to meet team or organizational goals and objectives.

Dedication to producing high quality education, practice, and research.

Internationally known and recognized for collaborative research and partnerships.

Demonstrated ability to develop new and strengthen existing research collaborations with community partners; ability to identify and develop meaningful community-based learning opportunities.

Extensive global health experience living and working in the Global South.
