The Department of Theater Studies at Duke University in Durham, NC invites applications for a Lecturing Fellow specialized in Design and Theater Technology to begin July 1, 2023. This full-time, non-tenure-track, union position requires an MFA in Theater or related field at the time of hire. The successful candidate will teach three courses per year in the area of Design and Theater Technology, manage the department’s Scene Shop, maintain our student theaters and prop storage, and oversee student-led scenic builds for two Mainstage shows per year in addition to smaller builds as required. One course per year might be fulfilled instead by designing sets, lighting, sound, or projections for a Mainstage show. The candidate will be active in ongoing departmental service and curricular development but will also liaise and collaborate with theater technicians working for Duke Student Affairs. Expertise in lighting design particularly welcomed. The renewable appointment will have an initial term of one year.
