The Department of Art, Art History and Visual Studies is seeking two Post-MFA instructors in Cinematic and Visual Arts for a one-year teaching appointment. Eligible candidates must have graduated from the MFA|EDA program at Duke in 2021, 2022 or 2023, and have their degree in hand at the time they begin teaching at Duke. For the Post-MFA in Cinematic Arts, the successful candidate must be able to teach Moving Image Practice, an introductory film practice course and Contemporary Documentary Films, a film studies course. For the Post-MFA in Visual Arts, the successful candidate must be able to teach Introduction to Digital Photography. The ability to teach an introductory drawing course is not necessary but may be deemed an additional consideration. The total course load for each position is five courses during the 23/24 academic year. Applicants to both positions should submit a letter of application, curriculum vitae, statement of teaching philosophy, links to 3 samples of recent artistic work, and the names and contact information for three confidential referees.
