A part time, 20-hour a week, non-exempt, Associate in Research position is available in the Vilgalys laboratory at Duke University to study genomics of symbiotic fungal communities associated with forest tree species (pines, oaks, cottonwoods). Duties include assistance with fieldwork (planting, watering, harvesting) and laboratory experiments (culturing, DNA sequencing; genome analysis). Training will be provided. Responsibilities will include supervising undergraduate research students, preparing media and reagents, organizing and ordering laboratory supplies, basic microscopy and basic molecular biology work including DNA/RNA extraction and library preparation for next-gen sequencing. B.S./B.A. in Biology or Chemistry required, as well as prior experience with lab management and molecular techniques.
