Position Summary

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Connecticut invites applications for two tenured or tenure-track faculty positions in the general area of thermal-fluid sciences. One of the positions is open to all ranks (assistant, associate, full professor) while the other is open to assistant and associate professor ranks.  We seek applicants with expertise in thermal-fluid sciences, including but not limited to computational fluid dynamics, heat and mass transfer, nanoscale thermal transport, and combustion with applications to materials processing, and energy conversion and storage.


The successful candidate will teach graduate and undergraduate courses, advise M.S. and Ph.D. students, and establish an internationally-recognized and well-funded research program. He/She will actively support the teaching and learning experiences of our students; as well as contributing through research, teaching and public engagement to the diversity and excellence of the learning experience. The selected candidate will be a key asset in expanding our research partnerships with corporations including GE, UTC Pratt & Whitney, and UTC Aerospace Systems.


Candidates for this position must have a doctorate in Mechanical Engineering or a related field with a strong background in the areas identified or in closely related areas.  They will have completed all requirements for their doctoral degree by time of appointment.  Foreign equivalent degrees are acceptable.
