Occupational Summary
An individual with academic credentials but without a doctorate and not a degree candidate. Assists faculty members in research programs by participating in the research directly or in organizing a program under which the research is carried out. This classification is administered on Campus through the Office of the Provost and in the Medical Center through the Office of the Chancellor for Health Affairs. It is not subject to the Wage and Salary system.
Work Performed
The work contributes to a project to develop tandem and multijunction perovskite solar cells and involves solar cell device design, film deposition/optimization, and materials and solar cell characterization. The position also encompasses contributing to research to improve component solar cells with respect to performance and stability. In addition, job responsibilities include compiling and interpreting data, effective collaboration, contributing to drafting reports/manuscripts, and
orally presenting results in internal and potentially external meetings.
Required Qualifications at this Level
Education/Training
An MS or ME degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics or a related field is preferred, but without a doctorate and not currently enrolled in a PhD program.
Experience
Demonstrated experience with successful hybrid perovskite film processing and electrical/optical measurement is required. Experience preparing and characterizing perovskite solar cells is preferred.
Skills
Experience with solution- and vacuum-based film deposition and patterning, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, UV-Vis absorption, and electrical characterization of semiconductors are preferred skills. The ability to work effectively in a collaborative mode is essential. The candidate should demonstrate effective communication skills (both oral and written) in conveying scientific goals/results.
