The Center for Advanced Genomic Technologies in the Pratt School of Engineering at Duke University invites applications for Entrepreneur in Residence in the Center for Advanced Genomic Technologies (CAGT) at the Pratt School of Engineering and the Office of Translation and Commercialization (OTC) in collaboration with faculty in the School of Medicine.

In CAGT, as an Entrepreneur in Residence, you will be responsible for facilitating entrepreneurship and innovation translation by Duke CAGT faculty and students by helping to quantify market opportunities for entrepreneurial efforts originating in CAGT, by educating and mentoring student and faculty founders in the processes involved in the launch of new companies, and by assisting in development of research priorities, business plans, and fundraising. Professor Charles Gersbach will be your primary supervisor.

With OTC, in particular by working with the New Ventures group managed by Jeff Welch, you will assist in accelerating Duke start-up formation across the university by evaluating early-stage startup projects, specifically in the space of complex biologics including gene and cell editing and therapy. Specific duties will include providing assistance in developing business plans, advising on potential translational projects to be funded by the Gilhuly Accelerator Fund, searching out talent for new ventures, assessing market risks, and providing introductions to potential investors.
