Position Description:
Search for the Chair of Department of Computer Science at Brandeis University.
The School of Arts and Science at Brandeis University invites nominations and applications for the Chair of the Department of Computer Science. The Department seeks a dynamic research leader and innovative educator with creative vision and an outstanding record of achievement to take a department moving in a new direction to the top ranks.
The successful candidate will have an exemplary record of leadership and scholarly achievements. It is expected that candidates for this position will have an earned doctorate in computer science or related field, and a level of stature in a field sufficient at a minimum to merit appointment with tenure at the rank of Professor in a strong Computer Science program. This position is subject to budgetary approval.
The Department consists of a diverse group of 20 full-time faculty members and researchers and offers programs leading to B.A./B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science and an M.S. in Computational Linguistics. The Department has research strengths in computational linguistics, machine learning, distributed systems and databases. In addition, members of the Department collaborate closely with faculty across the university including biology, neuroscience, economics, physics, political science, among others.
