Duke Biomedical Engineering (in a collaborative NIH grant effort with Neurosurgery) is seeking a post doctoral engineer to interface with a medical device in a Microsoft Windows environment and wearables (Apple Watch). The post-doc will work closely with research and clinical staff studying deep brain stimulation for treatment of Parkinson’s disease.

We recently received a second four-year grant and need a programmer to extend our existing application to meet the needs of the new planned experiments in an FDA (under an IDE) and Duke (IRB) environment. The developed application will interface with an implanted medical device to change device settings as well as display and save time series data from the device. The incoming data will be analyzed in real-time using an arbitrary controller designed by research staff, implementing closed loop device control using several defined control policies. This position may be extended to interface with additional devices for future studies including intraoperative work.

• Implement application from defined requirements using existing API.
