We seek candidates with expertise in the field of American Studies, and are especially interested in candidates with research and teaching interests in gender, race, environmental studies, and/or American relations with the world, broadly construed. Candidates with a PhD in American Studies are preferred, but we will consider applicants from other disciplines, including but not limited to history, sociology, anthropology, and literature. The successful candidate will have experience in teaching and mentoring both undergraduate and graduate students. Experience in developing and/or managing graduate programs in American Studies is highly desirable, but not required. Applicants must have substantial research accomplishments and demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and research.
