The South Asian
Studies Programme (SASP), a constituent unit of the Faculty of Arts and Social
Sciences, at the National University of Singapore, invites applications for a tenure-track
faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Contemporary South
Asia. The position will commence in July 2024.
The South Asian
Studies Programme offers Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral degrees in South Asia
and contributes to interdisciplinary programmes in the Faculty of Arts and
Social Sciences under the newly launched College of Humanities and Sciences.
The SASP is one of the leading programmes on South Asia in Asia. SASP was
established in 1999 and is multi-disciplinary in its research and teaching endeavours
and has a vibrant community of research students.

Successful
candidates must have

A Ph.D. in South Asian Studies,
Sociology, Anthropology, Political Science or related disciplines from an
internationally acclaimed institution at the time of appointment.
·
Field of specializations open.
Research broadly focuses on environment, religion, gender, urbanism, heath, politics,
borders, science and technology, etc. in South Asia.
·
A strong track record and
promising trajectory in research and publication.
·
Excellent communication skills
and dedication to academic teaching excellence and collegiality.
·
Experience in Interdisciplinary
teaching will be an asset.
Further, a credible record of teaching
introductory and advanced courses in themes such as religion, gender, environment,
urban studies and health in South Asia will be preferred.
