Position Description:    

The Digital MCM Research Scientist, Senior will oversee the BARDA Digital Medical Countermeasures project entitled “Digital MCM's for the development of Digital Health Technologies for Infectious Disease Monitoring”. The Research Scientist, Senior will be responsible for leading the work on three deliverables and ensuring the project is accomplished on time. The deliverables include working with Duke’s IT teams to collect and curate electronic health records, working with the IRB and ensuring that the human subjects studies are carried out in accordance with Duke and US governmental policies, leading the development of the ITA+ algorithm for infection detection and improved resource allocation, performing real-world testing in infection challenge studies, and working with the Office of Translation and Commercialization toward commercialization of the technology. Included in this role is communicating effectively and in a timely manner with the Project Managers at Duke and BARDA to ensure that all deliverables are performed on time, are communicated appropriately to the funding agency, and are done following the tasks and timelines laid out in the statement of work. This role also includes mentoring, guiding, and working alongside PhD students, working in collaboration with other research personnel as required for the project’s success, and contributing to the Phase 2 application for funding if this is pursued by the lab and BARDA. There will be ample opportunity for professional growth in this role as the Research Scientist, Senior will also serve in a support role for the PI as needed on other projects.
