Position Description
Postdoctoral Fellow in Keith Pardee lab, University of Toronto and Alex Green lab, Boston University Apply at: pardeelab.apply@gmail.com OR greenlab.apply@gmail.com OR https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/25708 The Green and Pardee labs (Boston University, https://www.alexgreenlab.org; University of Toronto, https://www.pardeelab.org) are seeking postdoctoral fellows with expertise in molecular biology, synthetic biology, DNA nanotechnology, and protein biochemistry. The project is focused on the development of cell-free biosensors for multi-modal detection (nucleic acid, protein, and metabolite biomarkers) and the integration of sensors with substrates and devices. We are a multi-disciplinary team of scientists and engineers who are passionate about developing technologies that will improve access to health care. Assets include: robust and creative molecular engineering background, and strong experience with protein purification, directed evolution methods, bio-conjugation, and assay development. Other areas of interest include working at the interface of molecular biology and fluidics, and competence with basic device fabrication. The role involves generating publications, contributing to grants and progress reports, mentorship of junior lab personnel, some lab management, and the maintenance of meticulous records. Appointment will be made for one year with the option of renewal. Qualifications: The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in a relevant scientific field (e.g. biomedical engineering, molecular biology, biochemistry). We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic researcher who is familiar with and has strong skill sets in the field of synthetic biology, including: • Design, assembly, and validation of DNA constructs • Protein expression and purification • Development of biochemical assays • Diagnostics development A highly qualified candidate will also have strong writing skills, with an excellent publication record, including impactful work from field-relevant journals, and be able to prepare manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journals. The candidate will be able to work independently, while also working well as part of a collaborative team on group projects. Expected start date: October 2023 Term: 1-year initial term, with the option to be extended to two or more years, contingent on continued availability of funding.
