Position Description:    

Position Overview:

We invite talented and motivated applicants for 1-2 postdoctoral research positions in the group of Sam Wong and Yi-Ming Zhong at the Department of Physics, City University of Hong Kong, starting September 2024. The initial appointment will be for two years, with the possibility of renewal for a third year, based on mutual satisfaction. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to collaborate on cutting-edge projects that push the boundaries of our understanding of the universe and embark on an exciting journey through the depths of cosmology, the intricacies of black holes, the forefront of gravitational wave research, and dark matter physics. Located in Kownloon Tong, at the center of Hong Kong, City University of Hong Kong is a top-tier university in Asia and offers a vibrant scientific community and an excellent quality of life. 


Key Focus Areas:

  • Cosmology: Investigate the origins and evolution of the cosmos, from the Big Bang to the structure of the universe.
  • Black Holes: Explore the mysteries of these cosmic giants, from their formation to their role in the cosmos.
  • Gravitational Waves: Dive into the groundbreaking field of gravitational wave astronomy, detecting and deciphering the most energetic events in the universe.
  • Dark Matter Physics: explore the nature of dark matter with direct, indirect, and astrophysical probes.


Qualifications:

  • Completion of Ph.D. in Physics, Astronomy, or a related field by the start date.
  • Expertise in one or more of the following areas: cosmology, black holes, gravitational waves, particle physics, particle astrophysics.
  • Strong analytical, computational or programming skills. Specific experience with N-body codes is considered a strong asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative research environment.
