Position Description
EXTENSION ASSOCIATE
Residential Child Care Project
The Bronfenbrenner Center for Translational Research in the College of Human Ecology, has an Immediate opening for an Extension Associate In the Residential Child Care Project (RCCP).
This extension position requires an experienced and acknowledged subject matter expert in residential childcare. This individual provides program and curriculum development for the RCCP's Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) and Creating Conditions for Change (CARE) programs. In addition, this individual is responsible for delivering and implementing training; providing consultation, and technical assistance in implementing these programs in childcare organizations, foster and adoptive care programs and child welfare services throughout North America, Europe, and Australia.
This position requires expertise in evaluating and incorporating relevant research and literature, including adult learning principles into educational and training programs for direct care, supervisors, teachers and other professionals working with children with complex trauma and challenging behaviors. This position will also work as part of a multi-disciplinary team composed of educators, researchers, and consultants to identify and design programs, evaluation, and research strategies.
As part of the technical assistance responsibilities, this field instructor will conduct formal and informal assessments of participants’ knowledge and skills in delivering the RCCP’s training programs as well as assess agencies’ implementation of the RCCP’s programs. Identifying agency’s structures and processes that support or interfere with successful implementation and making recommendations for improved outcomes is a necessary task. Writing skills are essential as the writing tasks include quarterly reports, training summaries, technical assistance reports, curriculum development and annual reports.
Frequent travel is required throughout New York State, North America, and internationally. Office location can be a combination of Cornell University and home based.
Requirements: A Master’s degree in the social sciences, social work or related field is required. Experience in family and children’s services and in residential childcare and adolescent issues is required. Must be skilled in training provision and development of training curricula with knowledge of adult learning theories and training technique. Must have experience in community systems, family and children’s services, in residential childcare, and working with many levels of staff in both the public and private sector. Some program management experience preferred. Must be able to work independently. Should be very organized and detail oriented. Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills. Pay Ranges:
The hiring rate of pay for the successful candidate will be determined considering the following criteria:
- Prior relevant work or industry experience.
- Education level to the extent education is relevant to the position.
- Academic Discipline (faculty pay ranges reflects 9-month annual salary)
- Unique applicable skills.
