Toxicity of Engineered Skeletal Muscle to Environmental Toxins

The Associate-in-Research will work on a project to study the toxicity of skeletal muscle microphysiological systems to a set of environmental toxins. Specific responsibilities include isolation and culture of skeletal muscle myoblasts, preparation, and monitoring of microphysiological systems, functional measurements of engineered muscle, measurement of reactive oxygen species, oxygen metabolism, and calcium signaling. Prerequisites include experience with cell culture techniques, and analysis of muscle function. The Associate-in-Research will present results at lab meetings.

Requirements Education: BS or MS in biomedical engineering or related field.
