Position Description

Position Description The School of Physics and Astronomy in the College of Science and Engineering at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, invites applications for a tenure-track or tenured position in Experimental Particle Physics at the cosmic frontier, defined loosely as the study of fundamental particles and forces using naturally occurring phenomena. The appointment will be at a level (assistant, associate, or full professor) commensurate with experience.

The University of Minnesota has a strong and well-supported experimental particle physics program including leading efforts on CMS, CDMS, Mu2e, LDMX, and the Fermilab neutrino experiments. For this position, we seek candidates who would strengthen or complement our efforts in the cosmic frontier. The successful candidate can expect to benefit from a vibrant culture of interdisciplinary collaborations within the College of Science and Engineering, as well as from state-of the-art laboratory space, materials characterization, nanofabrication, and supercomputing facilities.

Qualifications

Required:

Candidates are expected to hold a Ph.D. in physics, astrophysics, or other related fields and should have demonstrated the potential to conduct a vigorous and significant research program as evidenced by their publication record and supporting letters from recognized leaders in the field. The ability to teach physics effectively at both the graduate and undergraduate levels is required. The candidate should be dedicated to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment, and should be committed to working well with others.
