Position Description
INTRODUCTION
The School of Nursing at the University of Connecticut invites applications to fill two full-time, 10-month, non-tenure track faculty positions at the Clinical Instructor level at our Storrs campus.
Under the direction of the Director of Simulation, the faculty members will have the following responsibilities: supervise pre-licensure students in simulations, provide fundamentals teaching support, develop simulation scenarios, set up labs and simulations, post-lab cleanup, monitor simulation and lab inventory and supplies, supervise open labs for student practice, provide simulation/clinic completion and continuous improvement plans and augment support and training for the adjunct clinical faculty in the use of simulations and the Simulation Center.
Successful candidates will share a deep commitment to effective instruction and will also be expected to assist the University in efforts to broaden participation among members of underrepresented groups, to demonstrate through teaching and public engagement the richness of diversity in the learning experience, to integrate multicultural experiences into instructional methods and research tools, and to provide leadership in developing pedagogical techniques designed to meet the needs of diverse learning styles and intellectual interests.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in nursing.
- Current Connecticut RN license (valid as of the date of hire).
- Three to five years of clinical experience in a relevant clinical area.
- Completion of required health indicators (MMR titers, TB status, Hepatitis B, and others as required by clinical agencies) and CPR certification at the time of employment.
- Excellent communication skills and interpersonal relationship strategies.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous experience facilitating clinical simulations.
- CHSE (Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator).
- Previous clinical teaching experience.
- Previous teaching experience in an institution of higher education.
APPOINTMENT TERMS
These are 10-month, non-tenure-track positions subject to annual renewal based on program needs, funding, and performance. Salary will be commensurate with background, qualifications, and experience. Successful candidates’ primary appointment will be at the Storrs campus, with the expectation that they may travel to assist at other School of Nursing Simulation Centers at Stamford, Waterbury, or Avery Point. Individuals may attain eligibility for multi-year contracts after the successful completion of a probationary year and five (5) subsequent one-year appointments
