Position Description

Department of Physics at Virginia Tech invites applications for a postdoctoral research associate position in theoretical particle physics and string theory. The focus of the position is on string theory, including string compactifications, sigma models, F-theory, effective theories and string geometry and phenomenology.

Work will mainly involve developing new approaches and methodologies in foundational string theory, string dualities and string phenomenology, including determining the properties of string effective theories and the development of new computational and numerical tools. Work will also involve collaborating with faculty in the department. The position is available starting in August 2024 with a duration of two years, with a third year possible depending on performance and availability of funding.
