*** this position has been closed. ***
The Simons Center for Geometry & Physics and the C.N. Yang Institute for Theoretical Physics are in search of three Physics Research Assistant Professors, with a starting date of September 1, 2024. These positions are non-tenure track appointments, offering an annual salary of $81,000. A research fund of $5,000 will be offered for scientific travel, inviting visitors and other research related expenses on a yearly basis; in addition, $2,000 will be provided to defray moving expenses in the first year.

We seek candidates with an outstanding research potential in the field of theoretical physics (or complimentary field). Recent developments in cosmology, string theory and quantum field theory, together with important progress in topology and differential geometry, have caused these fields to become increasingly intertwined, as developments on each side stimulate and inform developments on the other.

Stony Brook University, one of four research-intensive campuses within the State University of New York (SUNY) system, is widely regarded as its flagship. The University embraces its mission to provide comprehensive undergraduate, graduate and professional education of the highest quality.
