Position Description:

*** this position has been closed and new applications are no longer accepted. ***
Description: The LAPTh (CNRS/USMB) invites expressions of interest for a post-doctoral researcher position in the field of theoretical cosmology. The position is dedicated to developing advanced statistical techniques to optimally extract the non-Gaussian information from the observations of the cosmic large-scale structure (LSS). The project has an emphasis on spectroscopic galaxy surveys, in particular analysis of data from the EASA Euclid mission. Therefore, we seek candidates with expertise in perturbative modeling of the LSS observables and handling of the observational data from galaxy redshift surveys. Extensive programing skills (in particular C and Python) are highly desired.

The successful candidate will join the vibrant cosmology and astroparticle group at LAPTh under the supervision of Professor Azadeh Moradinezhad. He/She would also benefit from the rich scientific interactions between the institutions in the region, including University of Geneva and CERN. The appointed researcher will have access to computing facilities of the LAPTh and CNRS and will be provided a travel budget.

The position is available for an initial period of 2 years, with the possibility of extension by an additional year based on performance and funding availability. The salary will be commensurate with experience and is set by the CNRS salary ladder. A Ph.D. (with a thesis in Cosmology or Astrophysics) is required prior to the start of the appointment.

Application Procedure: Expressions of interest should be sent in English and via AcademicJobsOnline, prior to January 5th - 2024. Please include a cover letter, CV, list of publications, a statement of research accomplishments and plans (up to 4 pages) and arrange for 3 letters of recommendation. For further questions about the opening, please contact Professor Moradinezhad directly.

About LAPTh: LAPTh is a mixed research unit (UMR) of the CNRS and the Université Savoie Mont Blanc (USMB). The scientific areas are represented by three broad activities grouped into cosmology and astroparticle, particle physics, and mathematical physics. The cosmology and astroparticle group has diverse research activities including cosmic large-scale structure, early Universe physics, cosmic ray propagation and dark matter in general, gamma ray bursts and neutrinos from the sky.
