Position Description

The group for Nonequilibrium Quantum and Statistical Physics at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, University of Ljubljana in Slovenia, led by prof. Tomaž Prosen, invites applications for (up to two) 2+1 year postdoctoral research positions in theoretical physics.

The broad area of the positions is condensed matter theory and non-equilibrium many-body dynamics, with emphasis on quantum many-body chaos and exactly solvable models. The positions are founded by Advanced grant of European research Council (ERC), acronym QUEST, with the main goal of exploring the stability of ergodic (chaotic) phase in quantum many-body systems. The candidate is expected to work with prof. Tomaž Prosen, but will also be free to collaborate with other senior members of the group (prof. Marko Žnidarič and dr. Enej Ilievski), as well as with prof. Sašo Grozdanov on topics related to quantum chaos and transport in holography.

The preferred starting date of the appointment is the 1st of October 2024, but this is negotiable (any time between April 2024 - January 2025).

All interested candidates should apply with their Cover Letter, CV, List of Publications, Research Statement and at least two reference letters before end of 2023. Online interviews will be organised in January 2024. For further information regarding this position, please contact tomaz.prosen@fmf.uni-lj.si.
