Position Description The Cold QCD Group in the Physics Department has an opening for two Post Docs to join the ongoing efforts in the RHIC Cold QCD program. In this role you will be expected to take a leading role in the analysis of the cold QCD data from the STAR experiment. We have recently collected significant data sets with polarized high-energy proton collisions and expect to continue to collect more in the RHIC Run-24 with a wide range of unique observables and possible analyses. In addition, you will have the opportunity to get involved in the EIC experimental program through the EIC project. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: -Participation in the RHIC cold QCD experimental program -Development and performance of analysis methods for experimental data -Presentation and publication of research results -Maintain a safe and respectful workplace environment Position Requirements Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: -PhD in nuclear or particle physics or related discipline -Knowledge of particle detector concepts -Experience with high energy programing, software and simulation tools -Ability to work in a large international collaboration -Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills. Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: -Experience with high energy hadron collider -Knowledge in C++ programming -Experience with ROOT, PYTHIA, GEANT4 OTHER INFORMATION: -Domestic and international travel can be expected -Initial 2-year term appointment subject to renewal contingent on performance and funding -BNL policy requires that after obtaining a PhD, eligible candidates for research associate appointments may not exceed a combined total of 5 years of relevant work experience as a post-doc and/or in an R&D position, excluding time associated with family planning, military service, illness or other life-changing event -Brookhaven Laboratory is committed to providing fair, equitable and competitive compensation. The full salary range for this position is $70200 - $116200 / year.
