Position Description
Postdoctoral Research Associate - Department of Physics
Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research associate position at the Center for Advanced Materials & Manufacturing (CAMM) a new NSF funded Materials Research Science and Engineering Centers (MRSEC). CAMM research is focused on projects utilizing advanced artificial intelligence techniques for theoretical/computational modeling of quantum materials including engineered quantum systems, topological materials, and quantum magnets. The position is physically located within the Department of Physics & Astronomy at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and is expected to begin in Spring or Summer 2024.
The successful applicant will have considerable scientific independence and be able to collaborate with CAMM researchers from Physics, Materials Science, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Research will involve feedback loops between theory and experiment including access to neutron scattering and photoemission data as well as cyberinfrastructure for machine learning workflows.
Qualifications:
- PhD in Physics, Materials Science, Chemistry, Computer Science or other discipline related to artificial intelligence completed by August 2024.
- A strong publication and research record.
- Research experience in artificial intelligence for quantum systems/materials.
