The Advanced Institute for Materials Research (AIMR), Tohoku University, Japan, is looking for a
postdoctoral researcher on condensed matter theory and/or AMO theory to join the group
of Prof. Tomoki Ozawa.
【Description of the Institute】
AIMR was launched as one of the centers established by the World Premier International
Research Centers Initiative (WPI) with the support of the Japanese Ministry of Education,
Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), aimed at developing world-class research
bases in Japan.
The main characteristics of AIMR are as follows:
- Collaboration between materials science and mathematics at the research institute level
- International research environment: about 40 percent of the researchers are from
overseas
- Comprehensive English language support
- Provision of an ideal research environment in all areas, including research equipment and
grants
【Description of the Group and the Research Field】
The group of Prof. Ozawa was established in February 2020. The main research interest of Ozawa group is theoretical study of many-body and topological physics in condensed matter and AMO systems. The successful candidate is expected to work in collaboration with other members of
the group and the institute.
A part of the salary of the position will be paid from Prof. Ozawa's KAKENHI “Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (B)” on the topic “Geometrical effects in non-Hermitian quantum systems.”

【Job Description】
Official Title: Specially Appointed Assistant Professor
Qualifications: Ph. D. degrees or related doctoral degree at the time of employement
Term:Renewed every year, can be extended up to three years in total
Starting date: Negotiable, between the date when the decision is made and April 1, 2025
Salary: Around 362,000 JPY per month before tax
