Lecturer, Department of Occupational Therapy Sargent College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences at Boston University Boston University’s Sargent College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences invites applications for a full-time Lecturer (non-tenure track) position to join the Department of Occupational Therapy. This Lecturer position will have responsibility for teaching courses in the graduate entry-level doctoral in Occupational Therapy (EL-OTD), with the potential for teaching in the undergraduate Bachelor’s in Science in Behavior and Health (BSBH), in addition to other responsibilities in the Occupational Therapy Department. The Occupational Therapy (OT) Department offers an entry-level doctoral degree program (EL-OTD), a post-professional online doctoral degree program, an undergraduate degree in Behavior and Health (BSBH), and a PhD in Rehabilitation Science. Our EL-OTD is ranked by US News and World Report as #1. Our faculty are world-renowned, leading the field in clinical experience and research, and are passionate about engaging students in these professional activities. Classes taught in the EL-OTD program include Analysis and Adaptation of Occupation, Evidence-based Practice I, Occupational Across the Lifecourse, Functional Movement: analysis and assessment, OT Process, Assistive Technology, Learning and Behavior Change, Skills for Occupation Based Practice, Occupation Based Practice with Groups, Occupation-based Practice for Individuals, and others. Lecturer position: At Boston University, a Lecturer is a faculty member appointed primarily to provide instruction for a stated term. This is a full-time, renewable, 9-month, non-tenure track appointment that is scheduled to begin anytime between September 1, 2024 and July 1, 2025, depending on the candidate and final approval of the academic appointment. The initial term is three years and is renewable based on performance and the continued availability of funding. The Lecturer will teach, advise students, and participate in service to Sargent College. A successful candidate will have training and professional experience in occupational therapy, strong clinical skills, and be prepared to teach a variety of courses offered through the EL-OTD program. Qualifications: Candidates must have • A doctoral degree, such as a PhD, OTD, ppOTD or other equivalent. • Four or more years of clinical experience providing Occupational Therapy in hospital, community, home-based, or school settings • A demonstrated track record of excellent interpersonal skills (i.e., communicating effectively with students and colleagues) • Organizational skills (i.e., capacity to create and maintain an easy-to-use Blackboard site for course materials) Preference will be given to candidates with • Prior experience teaching, which may include guest lecturing or responsibility for a portion of an undergraduate or graduate course • Established line of scholarship, with published peer-reviewed papers or conference presentations What to expect from our process: We will begin reviewing applications immediately upon receipt and continue until the position is filled. The in-person interview will include a 45 minute job talk and a 45 minute teaching demonstration.
