Position Function
A full-time NIH-funded Postdoctoral Associate position in Skin Stem Cell Biology is available in the laboratory of Dr. Tudorita Tumbar, Professor in the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetic at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, USA (

The successful candidate will have a PhD in Biology and will take a leading role in implementing mouse genetics and cutting-edge genomic approaches to address fundamental questions in Tissue Stem Cell Biology. We currently investigate molecular mechanisms that control skin stem cell fate decisions in development and homeostasis in 3 specific areas: 1) characterizing the heterogeneity and diverse physiological function of epidermal stem/progenitor cells in mouse and human skin; 2) examining the role of histone methylation and active transcriptional control in cell fate decision in mouse skin stem/progenitor cells; 3) mapping the interactions of blood vessels and endothelial cells as signaling niches of adult epithelial skin stem cells. The anticipated duration of this position is 5 years. Compensation and benefits in accordance with the NIH guideline and relocation reimbursement will be available. Anticipated Division of Time
The position responsibilities will be:
- Bench Related Work (50%)
- Computational and Data Analysis (30%)
- Reading and research project design activities (10%)
- Grant/paper writing and mentoring junior scientists (5%)
- Professional Development (5%)
Requirements
The position requires a completed Ph.D. degree, with a specialization in any area of Molecular Biology, Genetics, Genomics, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, and Development. Preferred skills include demonstrated commitment to an independent career in science, strong interest in stem cell research, motivation, ambition, and resilience.
Supervision Exercised
Supervision of other lab members, including but not limited to undergraduates and graduate students.

Pay Ranges:
The hiring rate of pay for the successful candidate will be determined considering the following criteria:
- Prior relevant work or industry experience.
- Education level to the extent education is relevant to the position.
- Academic Discipline (faculty pay ranges reflects 9-month annual salary)
- Unique applicable skills.
