Research Scientist
Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering

Schedule: Full-time; 12-month
Lab Information
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Identifying opportunities and writing 1-3 research proposals per year for federal and/or private foundation funding
• Developing research questions and utilizing appropriate research and analysis methods
• Writing summary and annual reports as well as contributing to publications
• Stewarding (designing, planning, implementing, and evaluating) signature programs including various k-12 initiatives, undergraduate research experiences, and adult programs.
• Identifying and pursuing opportunities for engagement with industry, museum, and other community partners
• Advancing Institute missions through public engagement including media and other venues
• Designing culturally relevant and interactive curricula for children and adult learners
• Creating inclusive mentorship/advising training for Institute stakeholders
• Developing marketing and advertising materials for activities and programs
• Some weekends and evenings are required for program implementation.
Skills
Required
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage several projects simultaneously
• Team player orientation combined with an ability to work proactively and independently
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal; ability to communicate effectively with a variety of constituents
• Ability to quickly master new software platforms and technologies
• Qualitative and Quantitative research
• Experience in advocacy for inclusivity in STEM fields
• Prior experience developing and implementing curricula with both K-12 and adult learners
Desired
• Event program planning experience in an academic setting
• Experience with Qualitative Data analysis software (MaxQDA or NVivo)
• Ability to collaborate with undergraduate and graduate students
• Experience with youth programming environments such as Scratch or Alice
Qualifications
• A PhD or equivalent experience in research and development is required.
• Currently eligible to work in the U.S.
