Position Description
The Department of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina invites applications for one part-time Instructor in Mandarin Chinese for the 2025 Spring semester. The contract for the position is not renewable. Duties include teaching a 400-level Chinese content course on Chinese literature or culture and grading students’ homework, tests, papers, and projects. Candidates must have native or near-native proficiency in Mandarin Chinese and English and a master’s degree or higher with the academic background in China Studies, Chinese Literature, East Asian Languages and Cultural Studies, or a related field. Experience in teaching undergraduates at college-level and/or the ability to design and teach advanced-level of Chinese content courses on Chinese literature or culture is preferred. Adaptability with instructional technologies and demonstration of active participation in the professional field are highly desirable.
