Position Description

The High Energy and Cosmology Theory Group at the University of Pennsylvania announces postdoctoral research positions to begin in September, 2025. Candidates should have primary research interests in topics connected with theoretical high energy physics, broadly construed. Current areas of research by the group include formal and phenomenological aspects of quantum field theory, string theory, quantum gravity, and particle cosmology, as encompassed by the research efforts of faculty members V. Balasubramanian, M. Cvetic, J.J. Heckman, J. Khoury, H. Lee, and M. Trodden.

The University of Pennsylvania Physics and Astronomy department hosts vibrant cosmology and particle physics research programs and has a long record of close collaboration and strong support for its postdoctoral researchers. Successful candidates will also be Fellows of the Center for Particle Cosmology (http://www.physics.upenn.edu/particlecosmo/).

Postdoctoral researchers are expected to perform independent theoretical research and to interact with faculty, postdocs and graduate students. Applicants should have a PhD in high-energy theory and/or theoretical particle cosmology and have demonstrated excellence in research in these areas. These positions are intended to be three years in length. However, each appointment will be renewed year to year subject to continued funding. An applicant should submit a Cover Letter, a Curriculum Vitae, a Statement of Research Interests, a Publication List and three Letters of Recommendation.

Review of applications will begin on December 1, 2024.
