Position Description:
Postdoctoral Fellow in Quantum Many-Body Theory
The Department of Physics at the University of Alberta invites applications to fill a postdoctoral position in quantum many-body theory, with a starting date in the fall of 2025 or earlier. The successful applicant will work in collaboration with Prof. Dr. Igor Boettcher (https://sites.ualberta.ca/~iboettch/). The position is a full-time 2-year appointment. The salary for the position is $60,000 CAD per year plus supplemental health benefits. The postdoctoral fellow will work on the theoretical description of quantum many-body systems, with an emphasis on novel computational and analytical approaches.
The applicant must have a Ph.D. in theoretical physics obtained within the last five (5) years, a strong background in quantum many-body physics, and previous research experience in condensed matter theory or quantum information (analytical and/or computational). Candidates with background knowledge in applications of machine learning to solving quantum many-body problems are particularly encouraged to apply.
