Position Description

We welcome applications for up to two postdoctoral research fellowship positions in the subject of generalized global symmetries. We welcome candidates from backgrounds in any of the fields connected to this research topic, be it theoretical high-energy physics, theoretical condensed matter physics, quantum computation and information or pure mathematics.

Successful applicants will join the Geometry and Mathematical Physics group in the Mathematics Department at the University of Birmingham, and work with Dr Lakshya Bhardwaj on the Royal Society funded project ‘Fundamental Physics Applications of Novel Symmetries’

The position(s) will be awarded for 2-4 years depending on the availability of funding and the fit of the candidate with the project. The successful candidate will be expected to perform research related to this project, to generate and develop their own research ideas, and to disseminate the results of the research through peer-reviewed publications as well as through other means such as seminars and conferences.
