Position Description

The Human Resource Studies department in the ILR School at Cornell University is seeking to hire a full-time lecturer/senior lecturer to teach HR-related courses in undergraduate and graduate degree programs on Cornell’s main campus in Ithaca, New York and set to begin in Fall 2025.

We welcome candidates with expertise and teaching experience in any area(s) of human resource management, including but not limited to talent acquisition, people analytics, compensation, performance management, training and development, HR leadership, global HR, or diversity.

Responsibilities:

Lecturers who have served for several years may be asked to assume administrative responsibilities for departmental course offerings or to train and supervise less experienced colleagues. Senior lecturers often carry additional administrative duties, including developing independent or team-taught courses, producing teaching materials and methodologies, and training or supervising lecturers and teaching associates. Rank and length of term will be determined based on education and experience.

In compliance with New York's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $51,300 - $164,300. Cornell University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.

About the ILR School: Cornell’s ILR School is a leading institution of applied social sciences focusing on work, employment, and labor policy issues in the U.S. and internationally. The School offers undergraduate and graduate education in addition to career-long learning for professionals. ILR is comprised of five departments (including Organizational Behavior, Human Resource Studies, Global Labor and Work, Statistics and Data Science, and Economics) that operate in a highly collaborative and collegial environment.

The Human Resource Studies department is a vibrant intellectual hub connecting research and practice. Offering unparalleled coverage of human resource management, we bring together scholars, students, and industry leaders to address contemporary workplace issues. Our faculty are recognized HR experts coming from a range of disciplinary perspectives including human resource management, industrial relations, management, psychology, sociology and strategy. All are routinely publishing in our field’s top journals. They serve as journal editors and editorial board members and hold leadership roles across campus and within the profession. The department is home to the Center for Advanced Human Resource Studies and the Institute for Compensation Studies that facilitate connections to practitioners.

This is an academic, full-time, non-tenured track, benefits eligible term appointment, located in Ithaca New York. The initial appointment will be for three years with possibility of renewal, title to be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Pay Ranges:

The hiring rate of pay for the successful candidate will be determined considering the following criteria:

  • Prior relevant work or industry experience.
  • Education level to the extent education is relevant to the position.
  • Academic Discipline (faculty pay ranges reflects 9-month annual salary)
  • Unique applicable skills.
