The Peace and Conflict Studies Program at Colgate University (PCON) seeks a visiting assistant professor for a one-year term, with possible renewal for a second year. The successful candidate will have expertise in issues of broad concern to the field of peace and conflict studies, including but not limited to regional or transnational conflict, ethnic or religious conflict, conflict over resources, post-conflict societies, or human rights. Candidates may have expertise, including fieldwork, in any geographical area. We welcome applicants with disciplinary training in sociology, anthropology, political science, international relations, international studies, history, or geography. Completion of the PhD is expected prior to or shortly after the date of hire.

The successful candidate will teach at all levels of the program, beginning with the Introduction to Peace and Conflict Studies (PCON 111), and other courses consistent with the candidate’s interests and the program’s needs. The person whom we hire will also have the opportunity to contribute to program activities, including lectures, workshops, and events that support faculty scholarship. The successful candidate may be asked to contribute courses to the university’s Liberal Arts Core Curriculum.
