The Department of Political Science at Colgate University invites applications for two appointments in American Politics at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning fall semester 2017. High scholarly promise and demonstrable excellence in teaching are essential. Candidates are expected to have completed a Ph.D. prior to or shortly after the date of hire. The department seeks candidates whose research and interests center on one or more of the following subjects: elections, public opinion and voting behavior; parties and interest groups; state politics and federalism; bureaucracy and policy implementation; political psychology; urban and local politics; political communication, gender and politics, and environmental politics. Americanists with an interest in comparing the U.S. to other democratic political systems are also invited to apply.
Teaching includes a mix of introductory and upper-level courses to satisfy a five-course annual load. The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in all-university programs, including the Liberal Arts Core Curriculum.
