The Department of Political Science at Vanderbilt University invites applications from outstanding political scientists with expertise in formal or quantitative methods for appointment as Associate or Full Professor. Candidates must possess strong theoretical and empirical skills, and have a demonstrated record of contributing to prominent substantive debates in political science and/or positive political economy. The successful candidate will be expected to take a leadership role in mentoring junior colleagues who employ formal theory in their own scholarship, and must be able and willing to assist in teaching quantitative methods and/or formal political theory at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Candidates who are interested in expanding course offerings within the department and broader college, as part of a college-wide effort to cultivate multidisciplinary curriculum in quantitative analyses are particularly attractive. Priority will be given to interesting research that builds synergies within the department. To enhance its growing scholarly reputation, the Department encourages applications from the best possible candidates, especially those who can contribute to its focus on substantively important political issues and who have demonstrated excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The appointment will begin Fall 2017. Salary and benefits are highly competitive. The Committee will begin reviewing files as early as September 1, 2016.
