RECRUITMENT NUMBER: 2419 POSITION: Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering (Structures) EFFECTIVE DATE: August 21, 2017 (Fall Semester) SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with qualifications and experience MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. in Civil Engineering or related area with emphasis in Structural Engineering with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. Degree must be completed or conferred by August 1, 2017. Demonstrated excellence in teaching or demonstrated potential for effective teaching at the college level. Record of and/or demonstrated potential for successful research, scholarly and creative activities. Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population. DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Two years of effective teaching experience in undergraduate and/or graduate level courses in Structural Engineering and/or Earthquake Engineering; Curriculum development and advising; Research and professional experience in Structural Engineering. Potential of registration as a Professional Engineer (PE). DUTIES: Teach undergraduate and graduate courses and conduct laboratory experiments in Structural Analysis/Structural Mechanics, Structural Design: wood, steel and reinforced concrete. Develop new courses related to Structural Engineering and/or Earthquake Engineering. Work on research and scholarly activities in Structural Engineering and Earthquake Engineering. Student advising and mentoring. Participate in service to the department, college, university, and community.
