The English Department at Duke University is looking to make a tenure-line appointment in American Literature and Culture. This appointment will be at the assistant or early associate level, with specialization prior to 1865. Applicants at the associate level must be no more than 4 years out from promotion to the rank of associate professor at the time of application. Applicants at the assistant level must have Ph.D. in hand at the time of application. Successful candidates will be published researchers, superb writers, and imaginative commanding teachers. We also seek visionary citizens of the humanities in its myriad constitutions. Appointment begins August 1, 2017.
