ASSISTANT PROFESSOR – DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGY. The Department of Psychology, University of Hawai`i at Mānoa (UHM), College of Social Sciences, in Honolulu, Hawaii, invites applications for an Assistant Professor who will add to the department’s strengths in social and cognitive psychology. This is a 9-month, full-time, permanent, tenure-track appointment, position number 84565 (changed from 84131), to begin August 1, 2017, subject to position clearance and availability of funds.

Duties: Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in social psychology and cognitive psychology, establish an active scholarly research program, supervise and mentor undergraduates, MA and PhD students, seek extramural funding, and participate in department, university, and community service. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications: 1. PhD in Psychology (social psychology, cognitive psychology, social cognition or similar) from an accredited college or university or foreign equivalent 2. A record of research achievement commensurate with time in field 3. Demonstrates the potential for securing external funding 4. Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in social psychology and cognitive psychology, and mentor students in the applicant’s area of expertise

Desirable qualifications: Although the area of expertise is open, we are especially interested in applicants who examine issues relevant to social psychology from a cognitive perspective or who merge the two areas successfully (e.g., social attention, social vision, social memory, etc.). Willingness and ability to teach undergraduate statistics and methods classes are desired. Given the multicultural and diverse context of UHM, we also seek candidates with a demonstrated interest in, or the potential to contribute to, equity, inclusion, and diversity.

Pay range: Commensurate with training and experience.
