|The Institute of Technology at the University of Washington Tacoma is seeking applications for a tenured, Associate Professor or Professor position for its new Electrical Engineering program. This is a senior, full-time position with a nine-month service period and begins September 2017. A Ph.D. (or foreign equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or related field and at least 5 (five) years of experience in an ABET-accredited institution are required. Exceptional candidates with industrial (in lieu of academic) experience will be also considered. We are particularly interested in candidates with demonstrated skills in teaching, who can maintain a vigorous research agenda and are familiar with industry practices. Priority areas are analog/digital electronics, embedded systems, wireless communications, controls and signal processing. Qualified applicants in all areas of electrical engineering will be considered.
The University of Washington Tacoma, one of three UW campuses, is an urban undergraduate and graduate level campus that is changing the face of its region economically, culturally, and architecturally. The Institute of Technology was created in 2001 through a public/private partnership to address the critical industry demand for baccalaureate and masters level computing and engineering professionals. The Institute’s 700+ students are currently enrolled in three undergraduate degree programs: Computer Engineering and Systems (ABET accredited), Computer Science and Systems, and Information Technology, in addition to a Master of Science degree in Computer Science and Systems, and a professional master’s degree in Cybersecurity and Leadership, in partnership with UW Tacoma’s Milgard School of Business. The Institute will be expanding its degree offerings as it continues to grow. The new undergraduate program in Electrical Engineering will start in autumn 2017. Undergraduate programs in Cyber Engineering and Industrial Engineering are in development. Our MS in Computer Science and Systems is also expanding by adding interdisciplinary, data centric tracks that leverage the research strengths of other academic units on campus, particularly in Data Science, GIS, Bioinformatics, Cybersecurity and Cyber-Physical Systems. An MS program in Electrical and Computer Engineering is also in development. The Institute is also the academic home for two research centers: the Center for Data Science, with established research partnerships that currently engage the healthcare and insurance industries, corporate and government entities, and other universities worldwide, providing faculty, research staff and students with applied research opportunities; and the Center for Information Assurance and Cybersecurity, with designations as both educational and research centers of excellence, which maintains research partnerships with government labs, the telecommunications industry, and universities throughout the world.
