Georgetown University’s Mortara Center for International Studies and the Institute for the Study of Diplomacy are pleased to offer a post-doctoral fellowship opportunity for 2017-18. Applicants should be recent PhDs whose scholarship focuses on the challenges of global governance and diplomacy, demonstrates excellence in the social sciences or humanities, and engages with real-world questions.

The grant requirements for the fellowship include completing a significant academic work and publishing two or more articles about their findings in publicly accessible form. Fellows are expected to interact with undergraduate and graduate students as well as faculty; give a public lecture; and contribute to the intellectual life of the Mortara Center and Institute for the Study of Diplomacy.

The one-year fellowship will commence August 1, 2017 and conclude May 31, 2018. The Fellow will receive a competitive stipend and benefits and will have work space at the Mortara Center and access to Georgetown University facilities. The position requires residency in the D.C. metropolitan area. The post-doc is funded by the Carnegie Corporation of New York under its “Bridging the Gap” initiative.

The Mortara Center for International Studies promotes scholarly, interdisciplinary research by faculty and students, advancing policy-relevant knowledge about international political, social, and economic issues, and generating communities of research and practice on key global concerns.

Requirements: Applicants must have completed their PhD by August 1, 2017. Applicants should have exceptional research and writing skills.
