The School of Computing and Informatics ( at UL Lafayette currently has 32 faculty members with specialties in major branches of computer science, computer engineering, and information systems. The School offers B.S. degrees in Computer Science and Informatics; M.S. degrees in Computer Science, Computer Engineering and Informatics; and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science and Computer Engineering, in the Center of Advanced Computer Studies (CACS). CACS is the research arm of the School, and is one of the best-ranked research programs in the US. We are recruiting 2 tenure-track Assistant Professors and up to 2 tenured Associate or Full Professors this year.

The Computer Science Program currently has a student body of 481 students. In conjunction with an ABET accredited undergraduate curriculum, the program offers five concentrations in Video Game Design and Development, Big Data and Cloud Computing, Scientific Computing, Computer Engineering, and Software Engineering.

The Informatics Program currently has a student body of 170 students. In conjunction with an undergraduate curriculum, the program offers five concentrations in Business Informatics, Health Informatics, Systems Administration, Interactive Media Technology, and Individualization. The program also offers various informatics service courses for other academic units across campus.

Located midway between New Orleans and Houston, Lafayette is the heart of Louisiana's Acadian-Creole region. The city of over 122,000 is part of the Lafayette-Acadiana area with a total population of 550,000, and is one of Louisiana's fastest-growing metropolitan. Lafayette serves as the base of Louisiana's offshore oil industry, as well as the financial, retail, and medical center for South-Central Louisiana.

The successful applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field by the time of appointment, possess a record of research excellence, demonstrate strong teaching commitments to graduate and undergraduate courses. While outstanding applicants in all pertinent areas of research will be considered, preference will be given to candidates with expertise in big data analytics, networking and networked systems, and health informatics.
