|The School of Computing and Informatics (http://cmix.louisiana.edu/) at UL Lafayette currently has 28 faculty members with specialties in major branches of computer science, computer engineering, and information systems. The School offers B.S. degrees in Computer Science and Informatics respectively; and M.S. degrees in computer science and computer engineering, and Ph.D. degrees in computer science and computer engineering, in the Center of Advanced Computer Studies (CACS). CACS is the research arm of the School, and is one of the best-ranked research programs in the US. We are recruiting 1 tenured Associate/Full Professor, 4 tenure-track Assistant Professors, 2 non-tenure-track Instructors, and 2 Senior Systems Administrators this year.
The Computer Science Program currently has a student body of 444 students. In conjunction with an ABET accredited undergraduate curriculum, the program offers five concentrations in Video Game Design and Development, Information Technology, Scientific Computing, Computer Engineering, and Cognitive Science.
The Informatics Program currently has a student body of 190 students. In conjunction with an undergraduate curriculum, the program offers five concentrations in Business Informatics, Health Informatics, Systems Administration, Interactive Media Technology, and Individualization. The program also offers various informatics service courses for other academic units across campus.
Located midway between New Orleans and Houston, Lafayette is the heart of Louisiana's Acadian-Creole region. The city of over 122,000 is part of the Lafayette-Acadiana area with a total population of 550,000 is one of Louisiana's fastest-growing metropolitan. Lafayette serves as the base of Louisiana's offshore oil industry, as well as the financial, retail, and medical center for south-Central Louisiana.
For the 2 Senior Systems Administrator positions, we seek candidates with a strong commitment to systems support for research, teaching and service. The successful candidates should have expertise and experience in operating systems (OS) with different platforms (Windows, Unix/Linux/Mac), networking and day-to-day systems maintenance and trouble shooting.
