Applications are invited for a post-doctoral position at the Mandelstam Institute for Theoretical Physics at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The post-doctoral position is available starting in October 2017. Applicants should have obtained a Ph.D. within the last five years and have shown evidence of accomplishment and independence in their research. Members of the Mandelstam Institute work on topics in string theory, quantum field theory, particle phenomenology, theoretical cosmology, and condensed matter physics. Theorists who overlap with any of these areas are encouraged to apply.
The appointment is subject to approval by the appropriate funding agencies and is limited to two years. We can apply for additional funding to extend the term of the fellowship, but this is not guaranteed. A post-doc can expect a reasonable stipend for research related travel in addition to airfare to Johannesburg on starting. Review of applications will commence on February 1, 2017.
