Professor of the Practice
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, invites applications and nominations for an open-rank Professor of the Practice position starting in July 2017. We especially encourage applicants with interest and experience in mobile computing.
The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to and demonstrated excellence in teaching. Successful candidates at the Associate and Full Professor of the Practice level will show examples of academic, scholarly, and educational success outside the classroom that have resulted in, or have the potential to result in, significant advancements in computer engineering and science education.
Reappointment and promotion are governed by bylaws and guidelines that encourage faculty to be innovative, to succeed locally and nationally, and to develop new courses and curricula that mesh with ongoing and new initiatives. Practice-of faculty typically teach two courses per semester with TA support. Successful candidates must show commitment to educating a broad and diverse group of students and in working to increase the participation and success of students from groups underrepresented in computer engineering and science.
Candidates must possess an earned doctorate in electrical or computer engineering or a related discipline. Applications received by March 1, 2017 will receive fullest consideration.
