Visiting Lecturer or Visiting Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Accounting Position
The Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management at the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business at Cornell University seek a temporary accounting Visiting Lecturer or Visiting Assistant/Associate/Full Professor for the 2017-18 academic year.
The SC Johnson College of Business Dyson School’s B.S. degree in Applied Economics and Management (AEM) is Cornell’s AACSB-accredited undergraduate general business degree. With around 700 AEM majors, Dyson is one of the smallest 4-year undergraduate business programs in the U.S., and one of the most highly selective and highly ranked. Of the School’s 450 upper-level students, roughly 20% specialize in accounting.
Position overview: The position requires at least a master’s degree in accounting or business administration with a concentration in accounting (see below for specific qualifications). The Dyson School is seeking individuals committed to teaching excellence and who have an established scholarly record consistent with AACSB standards for a Scholarly Academic (SA) or a Scholarly Practitioner (SP).
The person in this position will teach two courses in the 2017-18 academic year, including one large introductory Financial Accounting class (250 students) and one large introductory Managerial Accounting class, (240 students). Teaching assignments may change to meet the needs of the curriculum, as determined by School leadership. This is a one academic-year (i.e., 9 month) appointment.
Qualifications: The minimum qualifications for this position are a master’s degree in accounting or business administration with a concentration in accounting, or a closely related field. The preferred qualifications for this position is an advanced terminal degree in accounting (Ph.D.), or closely related field (DBA, JD/LL.M.) from an AACSB or ABA accredited school. All applicants should have substantive prior teaching experience, as demonstrated through course evaluations. For those candidates holding a master’s degree only, industry experience in an accounting firm or company, and professional certification as a CPA or CMA are required.
